Embedded in my Nordic DNA is the need to create with the appreciation for fine craftsmanship. Most of what my “day job” lets me do is to solve visual problems in a two-dimensional space, sometimes in the three-dimensional world (as again, two-dimensional objects.)

I absolutely love to make things that I can touch, feel the texture of, and feel inspired by. When I go through the process of crafting something new, functional, and funny to look at, the process usually begins with a memory.

My Heirloom Aprons were inspired by reading my grandmother’s stories about homesteading in North Dakota, during a time when it was very important to wear an apron. Not just for doing chores, but for dressing up. I thought about my current landscape, Santa Barbara County, California, where women my age dress up all the time–but often not in a romantic/classic sense. I wanted to provide opportunities where it was OK to be a woman, wear an apron, (signifying work, not necessarily work in the home) and look good while doing it.

The Drafty Cats were inspired more through necessity, and then humor. I thought it would be great if cats with really long tails could be used as door cozys... blocking the draft that seeps below the door. And, Drafty Cats was born. These adorable cats are now available through Etsy.com and have their very own website.

When the Simple T-Bag came about, it was because I was cleaning out my closet. I had so many awesome shirts that I didn’t want to give up, but definitely didn’t want to wear anymore. I realized that if I could make handbags out of them, then I could actually get away with wearing them–every single day! How deliciously inappropriate! Each T-Bag is made entirely from one shirt, and even has an adjustable-length strap. View the collection at Etsy.com, and get yours today!

Or, if you’d rather “sew your own”, I have printed patterns or downloadable .pdf’s available for sale. Just email me here for information on those...

So, that’s about it for now... there are always more projects on the horizon, and I’m excited to let you know when my newest website will launch featuring individuals “Living a RePurposful Life”

Follow my tweets, blog, and facebook posts to stay informed... ever the Scorpio, it’s all I can do to get out of my studio :)
